FAQs
Can Dr. Kapoor be my PCP?
Dr. Kapoor is unable to be your PCP . We recommend that patients maintain a relationship
with a true primary care physician or insurance-identified PCP. These practices are better
equipped to consult when acute illness care, routine wellness exams, screening tests, and
vaccinations are needed.
Do you do genetic testing?
Yes! We have found that for many patients, this can be an insightful tool to further
individualize your care plan. We encourage you to talk to us about which testing might be best
for you.
Where can I find the fee schedule?
Fees are listed on our website here.
Do you take my health insurance?
At ARA Integrative and Functional Medicine, we do not accept insurance. By working without
the constraints imposed by insurance companies, it becomes possible to devote the
time necessary to best care for you. Therefore, the practice does not contract with any
insurance providers and payment is required at the time of service.
While ARA Integrative Medicine doesn’t accept insurance, we are happy to provide you with
the appropriate documentation and properly coded forms for you to submit to your insurance
company.
Some insurance companies honor the charges, some will reimburse you for a portion of the
charges, and many do not cover them at all. Please ask your insurance company ahead of time
their requirements and processes for out-of-network reimbursement for an office visit.
For many of the labs we order, you have the option to pay out of pocket or bill through your
insurance. You assume all responsibility for verifying coverage if you choose to bill labs
through your insurance company. Some lab testing may be covered by insurance but is not
guaranteed. Most advanced specialty labs – such as genomic and microbiome testing – are not
able to be billed to insurance at this time.
Is there a late cancellation fee or no show fee?
Due to the generous amount of time alloted for appointments, we require 48 hours notice for
cancellations or rescheduling an appointment. If an appointment is cancelled or rescheduled
outside of the 48 hour window, full visit charges apply. We do ask that our patients keep a
valid credit card on file with us.
Do you take Medicare or Medicaid?
Rina Kapoor, MD does not contract with Medicare. Medicare patients can see her under
private contract; however, Medicare patients are unable to apply for and receive
reimbursement for these visits
May I use my HSA to pay?
Yes, ARA Integrative Medicine accepts Health Savings Plan (HAS) for visit payments.
Do you see children?
We see individuals 18 years and up.
